In one of the world’s most dramatic protests, Alice Newstead painted herself to look like a shark and hung herself from shark hooks outside of a cosmetics shop in London.  This act represented the process of finning, where sharks are hung for their fins to be sliced off as the main ingredient for shark fin soup. 

Newstead explained, “I am doing this because the demand for shark fin soup and other shark products is wiping out the shark population.”
